In an article displayed last Sunday by the TV show "Esporte Espetacular", Anderson Silva visited the tribe Kamaiurá indians, in the Upper Xingu, Mato Grosso, and did a workout with the natives.
"The mind must always be like a parachute, always open to new experiences", said the champion.
The experience to which Anderson refers was the "uka uka", a kind of wrestling practiced by the tribes of that region. Anderson first heard stories of the Indians, who told about this ancient wrestling form.
"We get two and half years in reclusion, preparing to be a fighter. Just scraping the skin and applying root", explained one of the Indians.
Then Anderson was duly painted by the natives, and went into combat. While duels were under the Indians rules, Anderson "get left behind", was defeated in less than one minute in two matches. In the third, asked to change the rule, then showing why he's the best in the world, and taught the Indians jiu-jitsu techniques, but without using his deadly muay thai.
"It's different the way they fight, the kind of technique they use. They are very strong, and I really enjoyed the experience, really cool", cheered the Spider.
